This is one of the Bridgwater Circle series of paintings image captured while crossing the canal bridge on Old Taunton Road in Bridgwater, Somerset. Looking down on the top of the bridge during a very wet, dark afternoon, astonished that the bricks had been screwed down.
I have always had a fascination with Bridges, no doubt because of my name and how useful they are bringing people, goods and communities together. I love the really rich colours brought out by the rain. Painting this brought out imagery – landscapes, faces, creatures and people like the bridge wants to show a bit of the life it has seen.
