This is one of the first Bridgwater Circle series of paintings image captured while on the towpath of the Bridgwater and Taunton canal, Bridgwater, Somerset. Looking down as you walk, you will notice these solar-powered lights set into the edge of the gravel paths. This one is from the left side of the bridge at the back of Morrisons supermarket.
I like the glassy square in the circle and the renewable nature of these lights, a great addition to our canal paths. The circular metal mounts set flush into the path are already gently rusting, giving it an orange glow to counterpoint the blue centre, and the pebble dash surface surrounding the light is a great textural contrast to the mirror smooth of the blue glass panel.
