A humble services cover near the library, one of the Bridgwater Circle series of paintings photo captured while walking in Blake gardens. Possibly, this cheerful example inset in the tarmac walkway is a water services cover.
The photo not only captured the attractive diamond pattern but also as I worked on bringing out its colours the greys turned to a carnival of colour with pinks and purples, blues, deep yellow, reds and greens. These reminded me of a harlequin outfit and a little like a cut glass perfume bottle or flask, a receptacle for the smell of spring, freshly mown lawns and the scent of flowers.
