King’s Magician

This is one of the Bridgwater Circle series of paintings from King Square, Bridgwater, Somerset.
I was taken with the sculpted edge of this bell push on a house at the corner of King Square. Painted in black shiny gloss paint, it reflects the light, the sky blues and surrounding buildings with green from the trees. It is a magical combination of colours and there, reflected in the centre (must be me taking the photo) the figure of a court magician running towards us under a canopy of stars. I have turned the canvas on its edge to follow the diamond shape, which I feel adds to the composition and its magical properties.
