A later addition to the Bridgwater Circle series of paintings, this image was captured while walking in St. Mary’s street, Bridgwater, Somerset. An old-fashioned bullseye glass window in an old public house building.
The photograph captured the distorted reflections of the buildings across the way, a mad swirling of reality which really resonated with me and the strange times we are living in. The centre seemed like an eye to me crying under a mushroom cloud. An image of sadness, madness which has enough movement that I can think this too will pass – a reminder of a generation’s fear about the nuclear Armageddon. The bright colours are also reminiscent of the 1960s.
