A Bridgwater Circle from the set Bolts & Fixings. Based on a photograph taken while on a route home via the canal. I was climbing over a stile on the edge of the water meadows near Browns pond, not far from the Bridgwater & Taunton Canal. The Ivy and lichen restyling the look of the wood structure caught my attention. I also liked the marks of the hammer used to secure the dome headed silver bolt.

The ivy, lichen and atmosphere are together working on the wood, gently changing the look of the surface.  The reach and unrelenting power of nature, its quickness to overtake man’s creations to soften the look and, of course, given enough time, will hide then pull them down altogether. This ability of nature has always greatly impressed me.
