Changing Scapes – Sharron Ayerst

Sharron Ayerst is a self-taught artist and retired nurse whose creative practice has evolved over more than twenty years. Beginning with watercolour painting as a form of relaxation, she later expanded into oils and acrylics, and more recently has incorporated linocut printmaking into her work.
Inspired primarily by the natural world, Sharron draws much of her subject matter from the landscapes of Somerset and the wider British countryside.
Her work captures the atmosphere and character of familiar places, while also allowing space for imagination and interpretation. Often blending elements from different scenes, she creates compositions that balance observation with memory and intuition.
Through expressive mark-making and a sensitive use of colour, Sharron’s work reflects a deep appreciation for landscape, tranquillity, and the changing beauty of the natural environment.
